Company profile

Revett Minerals is an established Silver-Copper Producer that owns and operates the producing Troy Mine and the world class development stage Rock Creek project (containing an estimated 300 million ounces of silver and 2.5 billion pounds of copper); both properties are located in northwestern Montana.

During the past year, significant productivity and cost improvements have been realized at the Troy Mine, where we employ over 195 men and women. We remain committed to our loyal employees, the environment and communities in which we operate and live.

Our focus and dedication, combined with proven production at the Troy Mine and the significant potential at the Rock Creek Project, form the basis of our goal to become a mid-tier precious and base metals producer.

Our plan is to expand production through exploration in and around our Troy mine and, through further development of our Rock Creek Project. Revett also continues to evaluate other precious metal and base metal business opportunities that are compatible with our mining and processing expertise.

History

Named after the Revett rock formation which spans one of North America’s potentially richest mining districts, Revett Minerals was formed in 1999 to acquire the Troy Mine which had been kept on care and maintenance status since 1993 and the Rock Creek project which was at the permitting stage of a draft Environmental Impact Statement. Both silver and copper properties were previously explored and developed by Kennecott and Asarco. In late 2004, the Troy Mine was brought back into production and is estimated to produce approximately 1.3 million ounces of silver and 11 million pounds of copper in 2011. The Rock Creek project received its Record of Decision in 2003 and final Biological Opinion in 2006, both documents were subsequently challenged by a number of environmental groups with the Final EIS and Record of Decision remanded back to the Forest Service in 2010.
