Company profile

Wella AG is one of the world’s leading suppliers of hair cosmetics and fragrances. The company is organized into the core business divisions Professional, Cosmetics and Fragrances as well as Consumer.

Approximately 56% of the turnover of the Wella Group is generated by the business division Professional. The range of this division includes Wella, System Professional, Clairol, Graham Webb, Kadus, Londa and Sebastian brand products which are exclusively available at salons for the four categories colour, care, styling and perm. Technical appliances, professional salon equipment and services customized to meet the wishes and needs of the hairdressers further complement the selection of products and services offered by Wella.

The consolidation of the fragrance business of Wella (Cosmopolitan Cosmetics) and Procter & Gamble, which resulted in the mutual cross-company organization P&G Prestige Products, makes this group leading in the fragrance segment, with a product portfolio that appeals to both customers and trade partners. The Cosmetics and Fragrances business division of the Wella Group, which is divided up into the Luxury respectively Prestige segment (high-end price segment) on the one hand and the Lifestyle segment (mid-price segment) on the other hand, generates approx. 27% of the corporate group’s turnover. Among others, the Prestige brands include Anna Sui, Dunhill, Escada, Gucci, Montblanc and Rochas, while the Lifestyle selection features fragrances by brands such as Bruno Banani, Mexx, Naomi Campbell and Puma as well as Marc O´Polo, Ghost and Tom Tailor.

The Wella Consumer business (i.e. the selling of hair cosmetics products to end consumers) has been licensed out to Procter & Gamble, the majority shareholder of Wella AG. At the end of the fiscal year 2005/2006, the principal shareholder incorporated all shares in the Procter & Gamble Verwaltungs GmbH business, Schwalbach am Taunus, into Wella AG, which in turn holds the shares in the Procter & Gamble companies that conduct the essential business activities of Procter & Gamble in Germany as well as the shares in some German Gillette companies.

In the financial year 2005/2006, which spans the period from July 2005 until June 2006, the Wella Group achieved a turnover of 1,597.5 million Euros, 91.4% of which was generated outside of Germany. By the end of the fiscal year 2005/2006, Wella employed 17,010 staff members around the globe, 32% of whom were working in countries other than Germany.
