German/English Version
Austria Mikro Systeme International investiert 305 Mio. EUR in
den Bau einer neuen 200-mm-Fertigungslinie
Austria Mikro Systeme International wird am Standort
Unterpremstätten eine der weltweit modernsten Fertigungsanlagen
für die Produktion von applikations-spezifischen integrierten
Schaltkreisen (ASICs) und Standardprodukten (ASSPs) für
Automobil-, Industrie- und Kommunikationsanwendungen errichten.
Das Gesamtinvestitionsvolumen des Projekts beträgt 305 Mio.
EUR, der Baubeginn wird bereits im 2. Quartal 2000 erfolgen.
fertigen.
. Kapazität: Die neue Fertigungslinie wird innerhalb der
nächsten Jahre auf einer Reinraumfläche von 2.600 m2 eine
Kapazität von mindestens 2000 Wafer Starts pro Woche
bereitstellen und so die bestehende, eigene
Produktionskapazität wesentlich erhöhen. Damit wird den Kunden
ausreichend Kapazität bei Austria Mikro Systeme International
und seinen Fabrikationspartnern zur Unterstützung ihres
Wachstums zur Verfügung stehen.
Finanzierung
Von den projektierten Gesamtinvestitionskosten von 305,2 Mio.
EUR entfallen 222,2 Mio. EUR auf Gebäude, Infrastruktur und
Equipment und 83,0 Mio. EUR. auf verbundene Investitionen wie
Assembly, Test, Informationstechnologie sowie Forschung und
Entwicklung. Die Finanzierung sieht vor, daß 48% aus
Eigenmitteln, 11% aus Förderungen und 41% aus Fremdfinanzierung
aufgebracht werden. Hervorzuheben sind die hohen liquiden
Mittel des Unternehmens von 72,7 Mio. EUR, die bei Baubeginn
sofort zur Verfügung stehen. Die Ausnützung der zur Verfügung
stehenden Fremdfinanzierung wird daher erst im Jahr 2001
relevant. Die Finanzierungsstruktur des Projektes ist
ausgewogen. Das Verhältnis Eigenmittel zu Fremdmittel weist
eine angemessene und branchenübliche Relation auf. Aufgrund der
ausgezeichneten Finanzlage des Unternehmens wird die
Eigenmittelquote während des gesamten Zeitraums über dem
Branchenschnitt von 40% liegen.
Austria Mikro Systeme International invests EUR 305 million
into the construction of a new 200-mm production line
Austria Mikro Systeme International is going to build one of
the most modern production lines for the production of
application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs) and standard
products (ASSPs) for automotive, industrial and communications
applications in Unterpremstätten. Total investment for the
project is EUR 305 million, construction is going to start in
the second quarter of 2000.
It is planned to finish the clean room during the first six
months of 2001, i.e. after 12 months of construction. Process
and production optimization with test wafer runs is scheduled
for the second half of 2001, industrial volume production will
be taken up in the 2nd quarter 2002. The new production line is
of essential strategic and economic importance to the Company,
for the following reasons:
. Technology: Technological development is heading towards
increasingly small structure widths (deep submicron) and the
integration of complete electronic systems on one single chip
(system-level integration). Looking forward, this can only be
done on a 200 mm line. The special processes developed by
Austria Mikro Systeme International, such as high-voltage,
BiCMOS and SiGe-BiCMOS are unique from a technical point of
view. The availability of the new production line will allow
these special technologies to be made in structure widths of
0.6(mü)m and 0.35 (mü)m. Moreover, the new production line is going
to offer a sound basis from which to develop and produce the
next technology generation down to 0.18 (mü)m in the near future.
. Capacity: Within the next few years, the new production
line will offer a capacity of at least 2,000 wafer starts per
week on a clean room floor area of 2,600 m2, thus significantly
increasing existing in-house production capacity. Sufficient
capacity will therefore be available at Austria Mikro Systeme
International and its production partners to support customer
growth.
Financing
EUR 222.2 million of the total investment costs of EUR 305.2
million will be spent on building, infrastructure and
equipment, and EUR 83.0 million on related investment such as
assembly, test facilities, information technology as well as
research & development. Financing is comprised of 48% equity
funding, 11% subsidies and 41% outside funds. Noteworthy are
the Companys high cash reserves of EUR 72.7 million, available
immediately at the start of construction. Utilisation of
external resources will thus not become relevant until 2001.
The financing structure of the project is a balanced one. In
particular the shareholders equity / total liabilities ratio is
both appropriate and in line with industry average. Due to the
Companys excellent financial position, the shareholders’equity
ratio will be above the industry level of 40% throughout the
period.
