K&M Möbel übernimmt Behr International
Exklusivmarke für Wohnmöbel verschafft exzellente Position im
gehobenen Preissegment / Hoher Bekanntheitsgrad beim
Endverbraucher durch Top-Designqualität / Enormes Potenzial für
bisherige K&M-Produktpalette
Die K&M Möbel AG, Kirchlengern, ist auf ihrem Weg zu einem
führenden Markenhersteller von Küchen, Wohn- und Mitnahmemöbeln
einen entscheidenden Schritt vorangekommen. Mit Wirkung zum 1.
Mai 2000 übernimmt eine Tochtergesellschaft der K&M Möbel den
Geschäftsbetrieb der Behr International GmbH Möbelproduktion
mit Sitz in Wendlingen bei Stuttgart. Die Behr International
GmbH zählt zu den führenden Herstellern von Designmöbeln für
den Wohn- und Schlafbereich und verfügt im Segment für
hochwertige Möbel über einen hohen Bekanntheitsgrad.
Der Geschäftsführer der Erwin Behr-Unternehmensgruppe in
Wendlingen a. N., Dr. Matthias Berg, erklärt, dass mit der
Veräußerung die Konzentration auf das Kerngeschäft konsequent
fortgesetzt wird. Die Erwin Behr-Unternehmensgruppe beschäftige
derzeit als internationaler Automobilzulieferer rund 1.200
Mitarbeiter.
Das Unternehmen arbeitet mit international renommierten
Möbeldesignern wie Peter Maly, Jürgen Lange und Joachim Tillack
zusammen. “Mit Behr erwerben wir eine Marke mit sehr hohem
Bekanntheitsgrad, die für exklusives Design und exzellentes
Image steht”, erläutert Vorstandsvorsitzender Volker Meurer.
Behr komplettiert die Produktpalette von K&M Möbel im gehobenen
Preissegment; die Portfoliostruktur des Konzerns wird nochmals
verbessert.
Mit einem Umsatz von rund 15 Mio. DM hält Behr International
GmbH bedeutende Marktanteile. Mit der Produktlinie “Alas”
beispielsweise, ist Behr darüber hinaus im exklusiven,
designeigenständigen und modularen Einrichten präsent. “Alas”
wurde mit dem Designpreis “IF Design Award 2000” auf der
Hannover Messe Industrie ausgezeichnet und wird bei der Expo
2000 ebenfalls präsent sein. Die Produkte werden Just-in-Time
gefertigt und über rund 130 Facheinzelhändler in Deutschland
sowie in ausgewählten europäischen Nachbarländern vertrieben.
Nach der Integration in den Konzernverbund von K&M Möbel soll
Behr International bereits im Geschäftsjahr 2001 einen
positiven Beitrag zum Konzernergebnis leisten und das
Geschäftsvolumen auf über 20 Mio. DM ausdehnen. Das Unternehmen
beschäftigt rund 60 Mitarbeiter.

K&M Möbel AG, Kirchlengern, has taken a decisive step on its
way to become a leading producer of brand name kitchen, living
area and flat-packed furniture. Effective as of May 1, 2000, a
subsidiary of K&M Möbel is taking over the business activities
of Behr International GmbH’s furniture production which is
located in Wendlingen near Stuttgart, Germany. Behr
International GmbH is among the leading manufacturers of
designer furniture for the living area and bedroom and is well-
known in the segment of high quality furniture.
The Director of Erwin-Behr-Unternehmensgruppe in Wendlingen,
Dr. Matthias Berg, explained that the sale allows the
consistent and focused pursuit of the core competencies. A
component supplier for the international automobile industry,
Erwin-Behr Unternehmensgruppe presently has approximately 1,200
employees.
The company works with internationally renown furniture
designers such as Peter Maly, Jürgen Lange and Joachim Tillack.
“With Behr, we’re acquiring a brand with very high coverage,
one that stands for exclusive design and an excellent image,”
explained Volker Meurer, Chairman of the Board of Management.
Behr complements K&M Möbel’s product range in the upper price
segment; the Group’s portfolio structure will be further
improved.
With sales of around DM 15 million, Behr International GmbH
holds significant market shares. With the product line “Alas,”
for example, Behr is furthermore present in the segment of
exclusive and uniquely-designed modular furnishings. “Alas” was
awarded the design prize “IF Design Award 2000” at the Hanover
Industry Trade Fair and will also be present at the Expo 2000.
The products are manufactured just-in-time and distributed by
more than approximately 130 specialised retailers in Germany
and in selected neighbouring European countries. After the
integration in the K&M Möbel Group, Behr International is
expected already in financial year 2001 to make a positive
contribution to the results of the Group and to expand the
volume of business to more than DM 20 million. The company has
about 60 employees.
