K&M Möbel senkt Prognose nach Ergebnisrückgang im dritten
Quartal
Die K&M Möbel AG, Kirchlengern, hat in den ersten neun Monaten
des Geschäftsjahres 2000 bei einem Umsatz von 191 Mio. Euro
(Vorjahr 182 Mio. Euro) ein Ergebnis vor Steuern und Zinsen (EBIT)
von 7,0 Mio. Euro erzielt. Der Vorjahreswert von 8,8 Mio. Euro wurde
um 21 % unterschritten. Dies lag in erster Linie an der
Restrukturierung des zum 1. Mai 2000 erworbenen
Designmöbelherstellers Behr International, die planmäßig mit rund 1
Mio. Euro zu Buche schlug. Weitere Ergebnisbelastungen ergaben
rund 250 Mio. Euro (plus 2 %) und einem EBIT-Rückgang auf 8,3
Mio. Euro (Vorjahr 13,3 Mio. Euro).
Ein ausführlicher Quartalsbericht wird am Montag, 6. November
2000, veröffentlicht.
K&M Möbel Lowers Forecast After Declining Results in the Third
Quarter
In the first nine months of business year 2000, K&M Möbel AG,
Kirchlengern, achieved sales of Euros 191 million (previous year:
Euros 182 million) and earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) of
Euros 7.0 million. This decline of 21 % compared to previous year’s
value of Euros 8.8 million was due primarily to the planned
restructuring charges of approximately Euros 1 million for Behr
International, a manufacturer of designer furniture which was
acquired on May 1, 2000. Also weighing on results were the write-
downs of own shares in the amount of approximately Euros 0.4
million due to the share price development in the third quarter and
the set-up of e-commerce activities.
The capturing of further market shares in the specialised furniture
trade was accompanied by price discounts to introduce new furniture
series. This led to a temporary decline in margins, particularly in the
kitchen segment. Higher prices of materials in the third quarter,
especially in September, also affected earnings negatively. Net
income for the year (excluding minority interests) amounted to Euros
3.0 million (previous year: Euros 4.0 million), and DVFA earnings per
share amounted to Euros 0.11 (previous year: Euros 0.21).
As a result of the developments in the third quarter, K&M Möbel AG’s
previous goal of reaching an increase in earnings of at least 5 %,
excluding Behr International, will most likely not be met. Excluding
Behr International, the firm now expects sales of approximately
Euros 250 million (plus 2 %) for the entire year and an EBIT figure of
Euros 8.3 million (previous year: Euros 13.3 million).
A detailed Interim Report will be issued on Monday, November 6,
2000.
