T-Online International AG hereby presents a preliminary indication of the
Group results for the first three quarters of 2000.
T-Online International AG stresses that these results are only initial
results based on current information. Deviations may arise between these
figures and the final figures which are to be published on November 30,
2000.
T-Online International AG reported further revenue growth in the
third quarter of 2000. T-Online International AG’s Group revenue was
EUR 542.6 million in the first 9 months. This represents an increase of
86.5 percent over the comparable period of the previous year. The newly
acquired foreign subsidiaries, in particular Club Internet, also contributed
to this increase with EUR 31.6 million. Not including newly consolidated
companies, revenue rose by 75.6 percent. An increase of EUR 27.8 million in
the third quarter of 2000 was recorded for portal revenue
(advertising/e-commerce revenue), representing an above-average growth in
revenue compared to the previous quarters. One-time events amounting to approx.
EUR 10 million were mainly responsible for this, with about half being directly
attributable to Deutsche Telekom’s portal for its third public offering.

Including the contribution affecting net income from the comdirect bank
public offering amounting to EUR 39.2 million, EBITDA was EUR -14.4 million.
T-Online’s share in comdirect dropped from 25 percent prior to the public
offering to 21.35 percent afterwards. Adjusted for this, EBITDA would be
EUR -53.5 million for the first nine months, which is attributable, in
particular, to the introduction of the narrowband flat rate in Germany
– as a main driver for customer acquisition and customer retention –
and the related migration of frequent users away from minute-dependent
rates in the third quarter.

As was announced on September 4, 2000, a 92.66 percent stake in the
Spanish online provider ya.com Factory S.A. has been acquired for
15.25 million T-Online shares (through a capital increase) and EUR 100
million in cash. The deal was closed on October 23, 2000. T-Online
thus has the second largest portal and approximately half a million subscribers
on the Iberian peninsula.
Due to the difficult competitive environment and a number of free/free
providers in France, Club Internet could only slightly increase the number
of subscribers compared to the first half of 2000.
