——————————————————————————–
ComputerLinks AG has positive earnings and strong operative cash flow in the
first quarter
ComputerLinks AG, the Neuer Markt quoted IT marketing company, achieved group
turnover of 37 million euro in the first quarter 2002, after 38.5 million euro
in the same period last year. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and
amortisation (EBITDA) was 2.2 million euro compared to 3.3 million euro in the
first quarter of 2001, the best three-month period of the previous year. The
cash flow from current operations was positive amounting to 4.3 million euro
(2001: 2.2 million euro). Early indicators suggest that there will be an upturn
in business in the second half of the year.
After planned depreciation, the group shows earnings before taxes (EBT) of 0.6
million euro in the period reported. In the same period last year, the EBT
figure was 1.8 million euro. In the first quarter of 2002 earnings per share
before goodwill amortisation was 0.21 euro and 0.00 euro after goodwill
amortisation, based on 5,857,220 shares. In the first quarter 2001 earnings per
share before goodwill amortisation was 0.34 euro and 0.15 euro after goodwill
amortisation (in relation to 5,847,520 shares).
The results have benefited from a reduction in fixed costs to 5.9 million euro
compared with 6.1 million euro in the first quarter of 2001.
Once again, the most important performer was the e-Security division, which
increased sales from 20.4 million euro to 25.6 million euro compared with the
same quarter last year, representing 69.9 percent of total sales. New contracts
have been signed in nearly all business areas with AOL, Foundry, ISS and
Radware. ComputerLinks is considering complementing the product portfolio with
products in the fast-growing storage sector. We are also considering setting up
local offices in Italy and Spain. Support service for end users, already offered
successfully in the UK, is now to be offered around Europe.

Issuer’s information/explanatory remarks concerning this ad-hoc-announcement:
Our UK subsidiary expects the economic situation to improve within the second
quarter 2002. The French subsidiaries are planning to merge and it is hoped that
they will be benefit in the near future from an increasing demand for security
solutions. Encouraging signals are being received throughout the group from the
training sector, which is a sign of an upturn in business, hopefully in the
second half of the year, on condition that the general economic conditions also
improve.
