The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– Kamps AG increases sales; EBIT remains positive Düsseldorf, November 25, 2002 – Kamps AG is profiting from its position as market leader and largest bakery group in Europe and managed to increase net sales in the first nine months of 2002 by approx. 1% to Euro 1.275 billion (2001: Euro 1.262 billion). In contrast to the same period last year, non operational one time adjustments had an impact on the operational result. The new CFO appointed in July continues systematically to review the financial books of the company. After the first nine months of 2002, EBIT declined to ca. Euro 31.0 million (2001: Euro 60.4 million). This decline were primarily caused by extraordinary one time costs (mainly impairments to fixed and current assets) of approx. Euro 16 million booked above EBIT. The adjustments will provide a better basis for the company to concentrate on operational business again in 2003. In addition to this, extraordinary costs – triggered especially by the refinancing beginning of the year (i.e. bond and syndicated loan) and the takeover by Barilla – also left its mark on the Net Result by approx. Euro 36 million. In light of the current problematic economic environment of the retail trade, the decision of Kamps to further strengthen its well-known brand Golden Toast with a broad-based TV and radio commercials has positively influenced the Kamps Sales. The marketing campaign is supposed to continue in the fourth quarter.
