The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– Stabilization of sales and positive result in the 2nd quarter Lambda Physik reported sales of EURO 25.3m for the second quarter of its Fiscal Year 2002 slightly below the prior quarter level of EURO 25.8m. This represents a 34% decrease compared with the EURO 38.3m sales reported for Q2/2002. The EBIT for the quarter was at EURO 0.8m (PY: EURO 6m). After a net loss of EURO 1m in the first quarter, Lambda Physik achieved a net profit of EURO 0.5m in the second quarter. Bookings in the 2nd quarter were up at EURO 22.4m, following EURO 15.3m in the first quarter. The order backlog on March 31, 2002 was at EURO 37.7m. The decrease of accounts receivable was one of the factors for the substantial improvement in the level of cash and cash equivalents which had risen from EURO 28.2m on 31 December 2001 to EURO 35.7m by the end of the quarter. Overall, the second quarter continued to be affected by general weakness in many areas of Lambda Physik’s key markets. While lithography and the scientific and medicinal sectors weakened in accordance with expectations, demand for industrial applications continued to improve. Compared with the first half year of 2001, turnover was down 29% at EURO 51.1m, with EBIT at EURO 0.5m (EURO 11.5m). The company made a net loss of EURO 0.5m or EURO 0.04 per share compared with a net profit of EURO 6m or EURO 0.46 per share a year before. The results of the first six months of the current fiscal year are in line with Lambda Physik’s expectations.
