The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– m+s Elektronik AG: restructuring programme on target / Staff reductions started / First earnings effects still to be felt in business year 2001/2002 / Sales and income for the first quarter meet expectations Niedernberg, 10th September 2001. m+s Elektronik AG has achieved first quarter sales (first quarter ending 31st July 2001) amounting to Euro 149,5 m (previous year: Euro 118 m). Earnings before tax of one of the leading service providers for information and communication technology in the reporting period amounted to Euro -8,6 m (pevious year. – 1,7 m) and losses of Euro 7,0 m (previous year: Euro -1,4 m). The results for the first quarter are in line with the company’s forecasts and with expectations published at the annual results press conference on 26th July 2001. It has to be considered that the previously announced and ongoing effect to the Euro 10 m restructuring process will impact the revenue results during the remaining fiscal year 2001/2002. The dismissals of approx. 100 employees planned within the restructuring process for the first six months of the fiscal year have already been completed. The board is still expecting a market recovery by the end of the calendar year at the earliest. For the fiscal year 2001/2002 the m+s group is expecting a significant reduction of Euro – 19,3 m (previous year: Euro – 26,8 m) in its consolidated results before tax with a planned decrease of consolidated sales of Euro 610 m (previous year Euro 668 m). Earnings before tax of Euro – 19.3 m include non-recurring expenditures of Euro 10,6 m for the restructuring programme. In the fiscal year 2003/2004 the m+s group should realise improvements in earning of about Euro 70 m.
