The restructuring program intends to result in increased anual revenues of at least EUR 70 million in the medium term Niedernberg near Aschaffenburg, 25 July 2001. m+s Elektronik AG, one of the leading providers of information and communication technology listed on the Neuer Markt in Frankfurt, reports a negative EBT of EUR 26.8 million for the 2000/01 financial year which ended 30 April 2001 (compared with a positive EBT of EUR 13.3 million in 1999/2000). The previously announced forecast of expected negative EBT of EUR 15 million for the ended financial year was not achieved. The main reason for negative results are extraordinary expenses of EUR 20.8 million, which mainly occurred at the end of the financial year. Due to consolidation, turnover in 2000/01 increased by 32.8 percent from EUR 503 million to EUR 668 million, which implies the continuing of growth rates achieved in previous years. Net losses amount to EUR 24.3 million (compared with net profits of EUR6.1 million in 1999/2000). The board currently implements a restructuring program, approved by the supervisory board, aiming at optimizing the business process and improving market performance, which has already been started during the ended fiscal year. The ultimate goal is to achieve through various measures a lasting annual increase in revenues of at least EUR 70 million p. a. on the basis of the losses from the 2000/01 financial year, which should be properly implemented in the third year. The current financial year intends to show first increased results of EUR 10 million. Despite the currently difficult market environment, especially in the IT sector, the board expects a significant increase in EBT in 2001/02. Mr Bernd Puschendorf, a member of the board, will be leaving the company on 31 July 2001 to dedicate himself to other tasks.
