Frankfurt/Main, 2 October 2001 – MatchNet plc (MHJQ: Frankfurt Stock Exchange – Neuer Markt), one of the world’s largest online dating service providers, announced today that it continues to substantially increase revenue and profits on a monthly basis. Revenues for August 2001 were Euro 1,097,117 compared with Euro 1,052,759 in July 2001 and Euro 519,524 in January 2001. Earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) in August 2001 were Euro 339,128 compared to Euro 310,998 in July 2001 and Euro (177,752) in January 2001. EBITDA margins improved significantly during the year from negative 15% in January to positive 30% in August. Net Profits in August 2001 were Euro 188,573, compared to Euro 178,402 In July 2001. In January 2001 the company reported a Net Loss. The significant expansion of profits and revenue are the result of growth membership, cost containment and achieving critical operational mass. Management expects the Company to continue to exceed its revised Revenue and EBITA projections which were released in May 2001 for the remainder of the year. In addition, management expects the Company to significantly surpass the EBITDA and net profit estimates which were made at the time of the Company’s IPO in June 2000. As a result of recent revenue and profit developments, management now forecasts 2002 revenues at $20 million and 2002 EBITDA at $5 million. Finally, MatchNet did not experience any significant disruption to its operations as a result of the terrorist attack on the World Trade Center, and expects to post September results which exceed previous estimates.
