Novasoft AG, Heidelberg (security identification no. 677 890, Neuer Markt), has
announced its figures for the first quarter of 2002. Revenues in the first three
months of 2002 increased by 20.9 per cent to EUR 18.4 million (2001: EUR 15.2
million). The company achieved an EBIT margin of 12.5 per cent by recording EBIT
(operating result) of EUR 2.3 million (2001: EUR 2.0 million). On the basis of
this performance and the positive order situation, the Management Board has
confirmed the plans for 2002 as a whole (revenues: EUR 86 million; EBIT margin:
12 – 15 per cent). The most important commission in recent months was won in
England, where the company succeeded in obtaining initial orders for a major
project at The Big Food Company PLC.
Revenues developed very encouragingly in the first quarter in spite of the
continuing weakness of the IT consulting market. It is interesting to note that
a disproportionately large percentage of business growth was recorded abroad.
Revenues outside Germany increased by almost 39 per cent, from EUR 5.8 million
in 2001 to EUR 8.0 million. With turnover of EUR 18.4 million, the Novasoft
Group already generated almost 22 per cent of the planned annual revenues in the
first quarter – a very good basis for developments up to the end of the fiscal
year. Particularly in view of the fact that the order book for 2002 as a whole
is very full. Orders have, for example, been received already for about two
thirds of the revenues scheduled for rest of the year.
Novasoft AG is stabilising its profitability at a high level. An EBIT margin of
12.5 per cent in a market characterised throughout by excess capacity and
pressure on prices emphasises the excellent position held by the consulting
company from Heidelberg in Germany.
It was not possible to increase personnel as originally planned in the first
quarter of 2002. The Group had 472 employees on 31.3.2002, about 100 more than a
year before but only a few more than on 31.12.2001 (466). This is due primarily
to potential candidates’ unwillingness to change their jobs in difficult times
as well as to an increase in the demands made on the quality of new consultants.
The Group is continuing to recruit in all the countries where companies are
located at the present time.
