PURCHASES MAKE SAUER-DANFOSS WORLD MARKET LEADER FOR LOW VOLTAGE MOTORS
Neumünster, April 2, 2002 . Sauer-Danfoss, the machine construction company
which is listed in Smax and on the NYSE, has taken over Thrige Electric’s “Low
Voltage Motors” business division. This includes the production sites in Odense
(Denmark) and Berching (Germany) and also a 40 percent share in Schwarzmüller
GmbH, Kaiserslautern. The remaining 60 percent of Schwarzmüller GmbH has also
been taken over. The parties involved have agreed not to disclose the purchasing
prices.
As well as low voltage motors, Thrige Electric also produces integrated pump,
control, and drive units. The business division taken over by Sauer-Danfoss has
around 450 employees and in 2001 it had an annual turnover of almost 50 million
US dollars. Schwarzmüller produces battery-powered inverters for low voltage
motors. The company has 20 employees and an annual turnover of almost two
million US dollars. With these acquisitions Sauer-Danfoss is establishing a
business division for electric drives which makes it one of the leading world-
wide suppliers of drive technology, work functions, and controls for mobile work
machines as well as hydrostatic systems.
