Preliminary key figures for the first three quarters of 2001 (Jan 1-Sep 30, 01)
-Group net revenues increased by approx. 50 percent compared with the first
nine months of 2000 – to EUR 809 million
-EBITDA for the third quarter 2001 improves to EUR – 35 million, a significant
improvement over the second quarter
-Portal revenues increased by 77 percent to EUR 108 million as at the end
of September 2001, as compared to the same period last year
-Access revenues increased by approx. 46 percent to EUR 685 million
compared to the same period last year
-Number of T-DSL flat-rate customers grows by 73 percent during the
quarter to 578,000
T-Online International AG herewith announces a preliminary indication of Group
results for the first nine months of the 2001 financial year.
T-Online emphasizes that these results are initial results on the basis of
current information. Deviations may arise between these figures and the final
figures,which are planned to be published on November 29, 2001.
In what remains a fiercely contested market, total Group revenues increased
from EUR 543 million for the first nine months of 2000 to EUR 809 million – or
by approx. 50 percent for the first three quarters of 2001. Against the
downward market trend, we succeeded in further increasing portal revenues ; the
figure grew approx. 77 percent from EUR 61.1 million for the first three
quarters of 2000 to approx. EUR 108 million for the first nine months of 2001.
Compared with the second quarter of 2001, the portal revenues rose by approx.
10 percent from EUR 36.6 million to EUR 40.3 million for the period July to
September 2001. Moreover, the Group EBITDA was significantly improved to
approx. EUR -35 as compared to the EUR – 57 of the second quarter 2001,
which means that the Group EBITDA for the first nine months of 2001, was
approx. EUR -158 million. As at September 30, 2001, the number of T-Online
subscribers throughout Europe had climbed 39 percent to approx. 9.8 million,
significantly higher than the 7 million for the same period last year. In third
quarter 2001 alone, the number of T-DSL flat-rate customers in Germany
surged by approx. 73 percent from 335,000 at the end of the first half of 2001
to 578,000. Over and above this, a significant number of T-DSL users are using
other T-Online tariffs. As expected, the number of narrow-band flat-rate
clients fell to approx.133,000.
