T-Online International AG herewith announces a preliminary indication of Group
results for the first six months of the current year.
T-Online emphasizes that these results are initial results on the basis of
current information. Deviations may arise between these figures and the final
figures, which are planned to be published on August 29, 2001.
In a heavily competitive market environment, the Group succeeded in boosting
consolidated revenues from 353 million EUR to approx. 539 million EUR, an
Increase of approx. 53 percent versus the first half of 2000. As expected, the
migration of narrowband flat rate customers to the new budget tariffs, in
combination with seasonal user behavior, led to a slight decline in access
revenues as compared to the first quarter of 2001. Contrary to the market
trend, portal revenues were increased by approx. 17% from 31.3 million EUR in
the first quarter 2001 to approx. 36.6 million EUR in the second quarter 2001,
and EBITDA was improved from minus 66,4 million EUR to minus 56.9 million EUR.
At the end of the first half year, T-Online registered 9.2 million access
customers in Europe, of whom approx. 335,000 were T-DSL flat rate subscribers.
In the month of June alone, twice as many customers were gained for this
tariff as the average of the months before.

The EBITDA improved by approx. 14 percent versus the first quarter of 2001.
This is due primarily to the successful migration of customers from the
loss-making narrow-band flat rate to other tariffs, as well as initial positive
effects of cost control measures in Germany and in our foreign subsidiaries.
In the coming quarters, the Group expects continued improvement in EBITDA.
