Growth in Triumph-Adler’s core business bucks market trend
Nuremberg/ Munich, November 19, 2002: Despite a tough market environment,
Triumph-Adler gained new market shares in its Experts at Output core division in
the first nine months of the financial year 2002, slightly increasing sales and
confirming the EBITDA compared to the previous year. As of September 30, 2002,
sales at Experts at Output had increased to EUR 296.3 m (+ EUR 5.0 m). The
EBITDA remained identical at EUR 29.9 m.
Group figures reflect both a change in the scope of consolidation of the TA
Beteiligung division as well as different performances of the individual
companies of this segment.
Group sales at the reporting date came to EUR 465.4 m, against EUR 523.3 m last
year. At -1.7%, sales were almost identical on a comparable scope of
consolidation basis. The Group EBITDA of EUR 28.4 m was virtually half that of
the year before. However, this represents an increase of more than 20% when
adjusted for proceeds from divestments and contributions to earnings from
companies sold in the previous year’s period.
Group earnings at the reporting date came to EUR -13.6 m (previous year: EUR –
3.0 m). Likewise adjusted for special items, Group earnings in the same period
of the previous year amounted to EUR -17.4 m.
Compared to the year before, the Group’s cash flow declined from EUR 54.5 m
respectivly EUR 13.6 m adjusted respectively to EUR 11.1 m. At EUR 602.2 m, the
Group’s balance sheet total was 8.5% lower than at the same reporting date last
year.
Pleasing results in the Group’s TA Beteiligung division were achieved by the
realisation of implemented cost savings. The EBITDA of this segment increased
adjusted by the above mentioned impacts to EUR 8.6 m from EUR 5.0 m last year.
As business progresses through the rest of the year, it is anticipated that the
current uncertain political and economic environment will result in a purchasing
and spending reluctance in our markets. Still it is expected that sales and
earnings can be increased this year. However the growth rates which have been
forecasted last spring will not fully be met.
