——————————————————————————–
Nuremberg/Grünwald,August 22,2002: The Triumph-Adler Group has made progress in
the first half-year of 2002 with its strategic focus on the Triumph-Adler
Experts @ Output core division. The divestment of companies outside the core
division, which were effected in the last twelve months, are having an effect on
the previous year’s comparison figures. As of June30,2002, the Group posted
sales of EUR309.8m (previous year: EUR342.2m). Adjusted for the companies that
have been sold meanwhile, the Group is stating a slight increase in sales
(previous year: EUR308.8m). The Group EBITDA decreased from EUR58.2m to EUR18.0m
compared to the previous year’s period. Adjusted for the gains on divestments
and contributions to earnings of the companies sold in 2001, the EBITDA grew
from EUR14.0m the year before to EUR18.0m (+28%). As of June 30,2002, the Group
EBITDA includes gains from the disposals of subsidiaries of EUR 1.4 m euros.
Group earnings amounted to EUR-10.4m on June 30,2002 (previous year: EUR12.2m);
and consolidated half-year earnings improved by EUR3.3m, likewise adjusted for
the effects of subsidiaries sold. The cash flow statement shows a cash flow of
EUR 7.0 m compared to EUR50.3m in the same period of the previous year (adjusted
for the effects of subsidiaries sold in the previous year: EUR8.3m). As of June
30,2002, the consolidated balance sheet total amounts to EUR596.5m, following
EUR673.1m on the same reporting date last year.Running counter to the market
trend, the Triumph-Adler Experts @ Output core division posted sales of
EUR203.6m at the balance sheet date, a slight increase (previous year:
EUR198.6m). The market share in copying systems in Germany rose from 8.3%
(Dec.31,2001) to 9.0% (June30,2002). The EBITDA of EUR21.0m slightly exceeded
the adjusted result for the previous year of EUR20.5m. As part of the
implementation of the growth strategy defined for the core division, two
companies have already been acquired in the current year
(Kannengießer,CAN.Media). Sales and EBITDA growth perspectives for the current
financial year are being estimated more cautiously as a result of the slowdown
in the office communication market caused by the sluggish economy.Sales in the
TA Beteiligung division amounted to EUR106.2m as of June30,2002 (previous year:
EUR143.6m), with the EBITDA before gains on divestments coming to EUR3.3m
(previous year: EUR5.6m).
