——————————————————————————–
-Revenues increase in Q3: +14.9%
-Adjusted increase for 9 month period: +11.0%
-EBITDA in Q3: EUR 3.1 million; EBIT in Q3: EUR 0.2 million
Cologne, November 22, 2002 In the 3rd quarter the VIVA Group achieved revenues
of
EUR 27.3 million, an increase of 14.9%. The cumulative sales for the nine month
period were EUR 82.0 million (PY: pro-forma: EUR 81.2 million). Adjusted for
last years accumulated sales of VIVA ZWEI, VIVA digital and Print (BRAINPOOL),
this represents an increase of 11%. The revenues in TV production (+10% to EUR
40.7 million) and Music-TV International (+69% to EUR 7.6 million) developed
particularly positively over the first 3 quarters. This more than offset the
decline of advertising revenues in the German Music-TV segment (-16% to EUR 32.3
million).
EBITDA for the 3rd quarter was EUR 3.1 million (PY: pro-forma EUR -5.3 million)
and for the accumulated period EUR 28.2 million (PY: pro-forma EUR -14.7
million). The 3rd quarter closed with a positive EBIT of EUR 0.2 million. This
corresponds to an improvement of earnings of EUR 13.8 million compared to the
same period of the previous year. A decisive factor for the leap in earnings was
the positive development at BRAINPOOL, the international Music-TV
participations and the de-consolidation of the loss-making subsidiaries VIVA
ZWEI and VIVA digital. After 9 months EBIT was EUR 19.3 million
(PY: pro-forma: EUR -30.1 million). Earnings per share amounted to EUR 0.38 in
the first 3 quarters.
After a period of nine months the VIVA Group now has cash on hand of EUR 46.0
million, representing an increase of liquidity of EUR 1.7 million compared to
the beginning of the year.
VIVA expects the positive trend to continue in the fourth quarter. A lack of
momentum from the advertising market in German Music-TV will be offset by an
increase in revenues from the TV productions and in the international TV
business. Against this background the Management Board of VIVA retains the
annual forecasts it made in August 2002 for revenues of EUR 109 million, an
EBITDA of EUR 26 million and an EBIT of EUR 15 million.
