The issuer is solely responsible for the content of this announcement. ——————————————————————————– Winter continues to make a profit / turnover and profit at 30.09.2001 comparably lower than the figures for the previous year / good developments in the new IT Security division / turnover and profit targets for 2001 adjusted to reflect market conditions Olching near Munich, 8th November 2001. According to its provisional figures, Winter AG, a leading supplier of systems and chip cards, reached a turnover of 60.8 million DM in the first nine months of the financial year 2001,compared to the 68.5 million DM (within the same time frame) of the previous year. The EBIT on September 30, 2001 amounted to 3.6 million DM (previous year 6.4 million DM), while the earnings per share amounted to 0.38 DM (previous year 0.61 DM). The IT Security division, in existence since October 2001, has grown very rapidly: by Novembers end 2001, it has achieved a turnover of 1.2 million DM. The notably lower results (in comparison with the period of the previous year) is chiefly attributed to the sustained recession in the telecommunications market throughout the world. The development has affected the GSM cards for Winter AG in particular. The company has only managed to partly compensate for the drop in demand for mobile phone cards by increasing turnover and revenues in other card sectors, particularly in the bank card sector. Winter AG continues to be profitable . However, the significant downturn in the market has had consequences for business planning. For this reason, the executive board has made adjustments to its current plans (turnover target 105 million DM / EBIT target 8.5 million DM). Winter AG is expecting a turnover target of 84.2 million DM and an EBIT of 6.2 million DM for 2001.
