AURELIUS AG / Key word(s): Disposal PRESS RELEASE AURELIUS sells Berlin-based Schleicher Electronic GmbH Munich, June 19, 2013 – The Munich-based AURELIUS Group (ISIN DE000A0JK2A8) is selling its Schleicher Electronic subsidiary. The buyer is the Dübbers family operating out of Hamburg in northern Germany. Part of the AURELIUS Group since July 2007, the company based in the Spandau district of Berlin had been comprehensively restructured over recent years. Alongside the introduction of a strict cost management system, large-scale investments have been made in research and development. The company greatly increased the proportion of its product that it markets itself by reorganizing and expanding its sales function. Furthermore, the company has successfully entered fast-growing Asian markets like China and Taiwan. The parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price. Schleicher Electronic develops, produces and distributes electronic components and control systems for tool-manufacture and special-purpose machinery construction. Working in conjunction with its customers, the company devises individual solutions for everything from individual automation components to customer-specific overall concepts. German Mittelstand firms form the core of the customer base for the Berlin-based company that celebrated its 75th anniversary in 2012. ‘The successful restructuring of Schleicher Electronic shows how important it is to involve all parties in a process like this,’ comments AURELIUS Executive Board member Gert Purkert. ‘Thanks to the good cooperation with the Berlin branch of the IG Metall union and the huge commitment of the workforce, we’ve succeeded completely in reorganizing Schleicher Electronic over recent years.’ ‘Schleicher Electronic is a traditional brand with great potential,’ says Sven Dübbers, managing director of Schleicher Electronic. ‘I’m delighted that AURELIUS and parties involved have succeeded in making the company competitive again. We will continue the successful work that has been started and systematically pursue the path of growth that has been chosen.’
AURELIUS has been successfully operating in the international market for company acquisitions for many years. The focus is on companies and corporate spin-offs in markets with plenty of potential for development. Building on active operational support, the subsidiaries benefit from the management experience and financial strength of the parent company. This is what makes AURELIUS a ‘good home’ for companies and their employees. At present, the AURELIUS Group encompasses 18 subsidiaries around the globe with facilities in Europe, Asia and the United States. Among others, these include traditional names like Blaupunkt and Berentzen together with numerous industrial enterprises.
