AuthentiDate Holding Corp. Announces Postal Service Electronic Postmark to Be
Integrated in Microsoft Office 2003
Duesseldorf, Germany, Schenectady, N.Y. – June 3, 2003, AuthentiDate Holding
Corp. (AHC) (NASDAQ: ADAT – News), the provider of the USPS Electronic
Postmark(TM)(EPM) service, today announced that the USPS EPM, which enables
users to verify authenticity, provide tamper detection, and date and time stamp
their electronic documents and files, will be integrated with Microsoft Office
Professional Edition 2003 (part of the Microsoft Office System) and Microsoft
Office XP as a Microsoft Office Word 2003 Extension.
The Word 2003 Extension software, co-developed by AuthentiDate, Inc. and
Microsoft Corp., will be available for download from http://office.microsoft.com
early this summer, where users will receive instructions on how to establish a
USPS EPM account.
“The Electronic Postmark offers significant value by providing a level of
security and trust to electronic correspondence generally associated with
physical First-Class Mail,” said Nicholas Barranca, Vice President, Product
Development, U.S. Postal Service. “We believe more users will recognize the
benefits of the EPM now that it is so easily accessible and can be used so
effortlessly in the Windows environment.”
The Word 2003 Extension, an extra feature available for the Word 2003 and Word
XP applications, consists of an integrated set of capabilities, including:
-Digital signing of a Word 2003 and Word XP document using digital certificates,
-A signer’s declaration of intent when signing the Word 2003 and Word XP
document,
-Electronic content sealing and time/date stamping with the USPS EPM, and
-Ability to subsequently verify the Word 2003 and Word XP document’s validity,
authenticity and integrity.
“Customers who use Microsoft Office Word documents can now easily conduct
business electronically with digital signatures and the USPS EPM,” said Erik
Ryan, Product Manager for the Microsoft Office System at Microsoft Corp. “The
Word 2003 Extension is a simple yet powerful solution for all organizations that
have concerns about information privacy and protection in relation to their
electronic documents and files. Microsoft is already in the process of rolling
out the Word Extension internally.”
The Word Extension technology is being demonstrated at the Microsoft Tech-Ed
2003 conference this week in Dallas, Texas.
