AZEGO AG: Restructuring measures are successful

During the 3rd quarter 2005 AZEGO AG (formerly known as ACG Advanced Component Group AG) improved gross margin and operating result significantly albeit with reduced revenues. In the 3rd quarter 2005 sales reduced to 21.018 TEUR compared to 23.577 TEUR in the prior year period (without Greece which runs under “discontinued”). During the first nine months AZEGO achieved revenues of 70.213 TEUR (74.573 TEUR in Q1 – Q3 2004), due to the strategic decision of the company to forgo low margin deals and to increase gross margin and operating income. In the 3rd quarter 2005 gross margin amounted to 3.227 TEUR. In the course of the year this margin increased continuously from 11.4 % in the 1st and 13.9 % in the 2nd to 15.4 % in the 3rd quarter. In the prior year quarter the margin amounted to 14.7 %. At the same time AZEGO achieved a significant success in reducing expenses which amounted to 4.405 TEUR in the 3rd quarter 2005 (Q3 2004: 5.540 TEUR). So operating income improved from -1.547 TEUR in the 3rd quarter 2004 to -1.368 TEUR during the reported quarter. In process of the year the operating result improved continuously, from -1.515 TEUR in Q1 and -1.457 TEUR in Q2 to now – 1.368 TEUR. This development indicates that AZEGOs strict management of costs is effective. The number of employees, which was 214 in Q3 of the prior year, was reduced by the 3rd quarter of this year to 194 in average. At the end of the reported quarter AZEGO AG employed 180 people. Due to the announced sale of the British subsidiaries and the founding of the Azego Technology Services Korea Inc. AZEGO expects further cost reductions and at the same time a sharp increase of sales in the Asian business.
