Carat Exploration Inc. – AeroTEM II survey completed on the Seneca property
Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. July 11, 2006. CARAT EXPLORATION INC.
(the ‘Company’)(Frankfurt: A0J2UW, TSX.V: CRZ) has now completed an AeroTEM
II airborne geophysical survey on the entire Seneca property, as part of
its ongoing summer 2006 field program. The Seneca property that overlies
the historical Seneca Deposit that is a polymetallic
zinc-lead-copper-silver massive sulphide deposit, within highly prospective
Middle Jurassic volcanic rocks of the Harrison Terrane, located near
Mission, BC.
Diamond drilling completed in early 2006 by the Company confirmed
exceptional grades of zinc-copper-silver-gold volcanogenic massive
sulphides in the Seneca zone. For instance, one 2.6 metre intercept in hole
57 reaching grades of 0.94% Cu, 20.28% Zn, 100 g/t Ag and 3.05 g/t Au, as
previously announced on March 28, 2006.
Furthermore, a prospective volcanic-sedimentary horizon that has
historically been termed the ‘ore zone conglomerate’ (OZC) at the Seneca
zone, has now been encountered near Weaver Lake, on the eastern side of the
Seneca property. There, altered volcanic rocks and sub-volcanic intrusions
have yielded very strong polymetallic stream sediment anomalies having
dimensions of about 3 kilometres east-west and about 1.5 kilometres
north-south. Persistently anomalous values of zinc, and to a lesser extent
copper and gold, are present along a broad trend extending an additional
4.5 kilometres further north. This polymetallic signature is consistent
with a Kuroko-style massive sulphide system.
The AeroTEM survey covered the entire property and comprised 1080 km of
time domain EM and magnetic surveys and was completed on July 8, 2006.
Combined with geological mapping, prospecting and follow-up of the stream
geochemical anomalies, the geophysical coverage should greatly enhance the
targeting of the upcoming phase of diamond drilling. Preliminary results of
the geophysical survey should be available soon, and the definitive report
from AeroQuest International is expected in about 6 weeks.
