CBF China Bio-Fertilizer: Sales and Earnings Q2 2011 remained intact despite unusual weather in the PRC
CBF China Bio-Fertilizer AG / Key word(s): Half Year Results 15.08.2011 / 08:23 --------------------------------------------------------------------- Hamburg, Germany, 15 August 2011 - Despite unusual drought and flooding in the southern parts of China in recent months, CBF China Bio-Fertilizer AG has achieved its sales targets in Q2 2011: The Company's operating subsidiary, Shandong Chengwu Jiuzhou Science and Technology Development Company Limited, generated revenues of RMB 50.7 million (EUR 5.51 million) in the second quarter of 2011, an increase of 66% compared to the second quarter 2010. The gross profit amounted to RMB 37.7 million (EUR 4.10 million) in the second quarter of 2011, representing a 69% increase year-on-year. In the first half of 2011, the Company's revenues increased by 52% to RMB 76.9 million (EUR 8.36 million), from RMB 50.7 million (EUR 5.64 million) in HY1 2010. Gross profit accordingly increased from RMB 37.5 million (EUR 4.17 million) in HY1 2010 to RMB 57.2 million (EUR 6.22 million) in HY1 2011. The gross profit margin remained stable at 74%. Due to robust demand of its products, CBF expects to generate revenues of approximately RMB 50.0 million (EUR 5.43 million) in the third quarter of 2011. However, gross profit margin is expected to be slightly lower than 74% due to increasing raw material prices. Based on the huge potential of the Chinese bio-fertilizer market and the strong marketing efforts by CBF, the Company remains positive about its prospects. Bacteria-based biological fertilizer CBF's bio fertilizer primarily consist of two different bacteria that, when put in the ground with the conventional fertilizers convert phosphorus and potassium into a form that is easily absorbed by plants. Using this bio fertilizer reduces the need for chemical fertilizers by up to 30% and, depending on the type of plant, boosts crop yields by up to 30%. Based on its own estimates, the company is the market leader in the Chinese market for bio fertilizer. Its products reduce the use of conventional fertilizers and simultaneously boost crop yields.
