CBF China Bio-Fertilizer AG
CBF China Bio‐Fertilizer AG continued its growth story in 2011
CBF China Bio-Fertilizer AG / Key word(s): Preliminary Results Hamburg, Germany, April 18, 2012 – CBF-China Bio-Fertilizer, the market leader for bio fertilizer in China, showed a strong business development in 2011. According to preliminary figures, CBF increased its sales by 22 per cent up to EUR 13.15m (119 Mio. RMB). Last year, the company redeemed an amount of EUR 10.8m. As last year, the gross margin slightly exceeds 70 per cent, gross profit amounts to EUR 9.3m (2010: EUR 8,0m) or EUR 1.32 / share (2010: EUR 1.14 / share). These results equals very well the forecasted figures issued on November 9th, 2011. Reflecting 2011, the company showed a strong business development despite struggling with some unexpected incidents, e.g. a challenging environment for high-value crop farmers who represent the main clients of the company, local authority driven delays in the construction of the new production plant in Hainan and increasing costs for raw materials. Regarding these effects, EBIT should turn out a bit lower than expected in November but significantly higher than 2010. Nevertheless, the management board is very comfortable with the company performance in 2011. Final figures and a first outlook 2012 will be published in early June. Due to the fact that the production capacity of the company is sufficient for meeting the current demand, the construction of the Hainan plant has been postponed to the second half of this year. Bacteria-based biological fertilizer CBF's bio fertilizer primarily consist of two different bacteria that, when put in the ground with the conventional fertilizers convert phosphorus and potassium into a form that is easily absorbed by plants. Using this bio fertilizer reduces the need for chemical fertilizers by up to 30% and, depending on the type of plant, boosts crop yields by up to 30%.
