COMplus Technologies SE: COMplus AG cooperates with Fraunhofer-Institut – Shorter time-to-market and minimization of risks –
Complus Technologies SE / Key word(s): Alliance 01.04.2011 / 20:44 (Brandenburg an der Havel, April 1st, 2011) In the future, COMplus AG, Brandenburg an der Havel, Germany, a wholly-owned subsidiary of COMplus Technologies SE, wants to halve the development time for new products with a new and more efficient innovation management to enhance its national and international competitiveness. Therefore, the company entered into a cooperation with the Fraunhofer Institut for production and construction technology. The cooperation began in the beginning of 2011 with the planning of the joint project 'FeaSMEbility - an extended cloud-based Feasibility-analysis for SME networks (small- and medium-sized enterprises)'. COMplus AG applied for subsidy funding within the framework of the program 'Forschung für die Produktion von morgen (Research for Tomorrow's Production)' from the Federal Ministery of Education and Research (BMBF) in March of 2011 for this project. 'Especially in the case of SME networks, the economic success is dependent on exact and reliable predictions of the effort required for the complete life cycle of new products, from development, through manufacturing and maintenance. That's why the management of requirements, as well as cost management and project management has to start at an early stage of the development process. Together with our project partners, we want to develop, test, standardize use, and later also market cloud-based methods and software tools', explains Uwe Maiberg, CEO of COMplus AG. COMplus shall lead the consortium and will create solutions for the cloud computing services within the system engineering division. Fraunhofer Institut IPK takes on the the role of scientific lead- and corporation partner, coordinates the project content, defines part projects with all participants, supports the implementation and provides equipment and the critical reference environment for prototyping and testing. Seven further SMEs are taking part as partners within this cooperation project, which should be finalized within 30 months. 'With an industrial portion of 45 % to 70 % our focus is obviously on applied science. The interesting part of FeaSMEbility is that we create and reinforce the cloud computing approach of SMEs. With this bundled know how, especially small enterprises can exploit its most important advantages - speed of action and flexibility - while minimizing the risk', points out Thomas Knothe, head of division company and factory planning in the area of business management at the Fraunhofer Institut for production and construction technology.
