Amsterdam, Düsseldorf – On 10 April the international business magazine “Red Herring” announced its Top 100 award winners for this year. The companies involved were assessed specifically for their innovative approach and pioneering technology within a specific industry, with agnion energy GmbH winning an award in the “Clean Tech” field.

“Red Herring’s Top 100 Europe List” is a mark of distinction for promising start-up companies and entrepreneurs and is awarded by Red Herring’s editors, who were among the first to recognise the potential of companies such as Facebook, Twitter, Google, Yahoo, Skype, Salesforce.com, YouTube and eBay, realising at an early stage that these enterprises would change the way we live and work.

“Selecting start-ups that show the most potential for disruption and growth is never easy,” states Alex Vieux, publisher and CEO of Red Herring. “We looked at hundreds and hundreds of candidates from all across the continent, and after much thought and debate, narrowed the list down to the Top 100 Winners. Each year, the competition gets tougher but we believe agnion energy demonstrates the vision, drive and innovation that define a Red Herring winner.”

We are especially delighted by the fact that we are among the ten European award winners who have been invited to present their business model at the Red Herring event in Monterey, California.”

The Red Herring editorial team evaluates companies on both quantitative and qualitative criteria, which include financial results, technological innovation, management quality, business strategy and market potential. This evaluation is supplemented by a comparison with the track record and performance of similar start-ups in the same industry, making the list a valuable instrument for the discovery and support of particularly promising new business models in Europe.
