In an official ceremony, the Germany federal minister for traffic, construction and urban development, Wolfgang Tiefensee, and the Prime Minister of Brandenburg, Matthias Platzeck, pressed the red button for the official start of production. EOP’s CEO, Sven Schön, pointed out that biodiesel makes an important contribution to climate protection: 'With the biodiesel production capacity in Germany we can avoid 10 million tons of C02 pollution. And this is done with a tried-and-tested, safe and domestically available technology. If politicians want to avoid global warming, there is no way around biodiesel.' The expansion of the biodiesel production means 18 new jobs in Brandenburg. The investment volume of 17.5 Million Euros was mainly allocated to regional suppliers. With the help of the new biodiesel plant, EOP Biodiesel AG now has an annual capacity of 132.500 tonnes of biodiesel in Germany.
