HELIOS Kliniken gets EIB-financing – Europes most modern new hospital building

One of Germany’s most successful private hospital groups, HELIOS Kliniken GmbH, gets a EUR 100 million financing from the European Investment Bank (EIB) for Europe’s biggest privately financed new hospital building in Berlin. The financing was arranged by KfW IPEX-Bank. Thus, the company remains strong for coming acquisitions, regardless the amount of EUR 215 million to be invested for the building. The 1,000-beds new hospital building in Berlin brings together the currently separated three locations of the HELIOS Klinikum Berlin-Buch: i. e. the internationally renowned Klinikum Buch as well as two hospitals of the Charité, Universitary Medicine Berlin. Peter Küstermann, CFO HELIOS Kliniken GmbH: “HELIOS has great plans. The EIB-financing secures our long-term investments, though the investments were also possible by means of our own cash flow. To date, HELIOS still has a positive net cash position. Berlin-Buch today is one of Germany’s most important locations of medical research and science. The close of the HELIOS hospital especially with the Charité, Universitary Medicine, further research facilities and biotech companies is an ideal basis for clinical research and medical treatment.
