KLIMAHOUSE 2014: GruenEnergy and ENTRADE AG make an impact with electricity generated from wood
ENTRADE Energiesysteme AG / Key word(s): Alliance/Product Launch KLIMAHOUSE 2014: GruenEnergy and ENTRADE AG make an impact with electricity generated from wood Bolzano. – In addition to the three classical sources of renewable energy – sun, wind and water – biomass in the form of wood as a renewable raw material is a further significant supplier of energy which can make an important contribution to sustainable electricity generation. Because of the base load capability of decentral biomass power stations they will in future make it possible to replace large-scale nuclear and fossil-fuel power stations. Against this background the firms of GruenEnergy from Bolzena and Germany’s ENTRADE Energiesysteme AG will be presenting innovative processes for generating electricity, cooling and heat from renewable biomass at ‘KLIMAHOUSE 2014’ – Sector CD, Stand C19/20. The trade fair takes place in Bolzano from 23 to 26 January 2014. The two companies will be demonstrating how efficiently biomass can be used for generating electricity both on the basis of wood energy plants at the low output level and large-scale facilities with an output of up to 400 kW. Decentral electricity generation in operation Europe-wide The power stations which GruenEnergy markets operate with a fixed-bed gasifier at the low capacity level of 45 kW to 125 kW (electrical). Since 2010 more than 200 such plants have come on stream throughout Europe. They are fed with wood chips from waste wood taken from treetops and roadside tree maintenance, for example, which means that they enable positive use to be made of waste wood which had previously not been exploited in energy terms. The small-scale wood energy plants are especially robust, easy to set up and can therefore be operated almost anywhere. With the large-scale agnion energy plants GruenEnergy provides a system based on a stationary fluidised-bed process. This enables the application of a range of fuels and produces high quality synthesis gas. These facilities are designed for the generation of electricity and heating from solid biomass in the output range of over 400 kW. In Auer/South Tyrol a dual plant using the innovative agnion technology came into operation in 2013. This plant has an output of 850 kW (electrical) and can be viewed by appointment. South Tyrol has the ideal conditions for covering an increasing amount of energy requirements from the use of waste wood and accordingly expanding the range of renewable energy sources which are already being exploited. After all, more than 40% of the area of South Tyrol is covered in forest. This forest is only partly used for commercial purposes, and less wood is removed than the new growth which occurs. GruenEnergy is a partner company to the Entrade Group, and employs around 40 specialist staff throughout Europe. As a finance provider Entrade Energiesysteme AG invests in responsible and sustainably oriented energy supply concepts. The company is a leading supplier of energy technology on the basis of solid biomass. More information is available online at www.entrade.de and www.gruenenergy.it.
