Optimizer International Group, Inc. / Key word(s): Miscellaneous Optimizer International Group identifies the overall A2P SMS Market Size in Asia, launches core infrastructure to capitalize on the Asia Opportunity. According to a new report published by Transparency Market Research '(Premium Messaging Market – A2P SMS Market, P2A SMS Market: Global Analysis, Trends, Size and Forecast (2007 – 2017)'. The global premium messaging market volume was 165.9 billion in 2011 and is estimated to be 236.9 billion in 2012 and further expected to reach to 1,134.2 billion in 2017 at an estimated CAGR of 36.8% from 2012 to 2017. Within the Premium messaging segment, Application to Person (A2P) SMS will account for 137 billion messages in 2012. APAC taking up 67% of that volume pushing nearly 92 billion messages. According to the report's forecast, APAC will send 438 billion A2P messages in 2017, a 26.7% CAGR over the next 5 years. A2P messaging – defined as those messages which are sent to or from an application – has a wide variety of use-cases. These include financial services, advertising, marketing, business administration, ticketing, television voting and any other service where information needs to be sent to, or received from a large number of users in text form. However, does the advent of Mobile Apps and the transition of instant messaging apps from the desktop to the mobile device somehow reduce the value added nature of SMS? Juniper's Mobile Messaging Report author Daniel Ashdown argues: 'While SMS is one of the oldest value-added services, it has an enduring appeal for a number of reasons. In terms of text communication it is unrivaled on the mobile device in its ubiquity – virtually every handset in the world can send and receive it. This makes it extremely appealing for brands who want to enable communication with their customers, as unlike other messaging mediums, they know it will reach almost its entire intended audience.' 'The transition of desktop IM apps over to mobile devices may have caused a slight decline in the Person-to-Person segment of SMS however, for or an application communicating with the end user, SMS is by far the most effective method of reaching a mass audience. Besides being highly cost effective, the reach of SMS is not tied to whether or not the user has access to data services or if the user has any specific device type. Every device has SMS capabilities and in many markets, local telcos have highly attractive SMS packages making it nearly free for the end users to reply to SMS sent by an application ', says Manas Kumar, CEO of Optimizer. With 5.9 billion mobile subscribers in the world (that's 87 percent of the world population) 8 trillion text messages were sent in 2011 including both A2P and P2P SMS but A2P – (application to person) SMS is expected to overtake P2P (person to person) SMS in 2016. On the back of such promising statistical numbers validating the demand and consistent growth for A2P SMS services, Optimizer is rolling out core infrastructure in key Asian markets for its SMS Marketing platform, Texta expecting a launch in Q2.
