This strategic move will also be an advantage to all diamond miners and sellers in the region such as New African Mining. Zug/Switzerland, September 4, 2007: The South African Minerals and Energy Minister, Buyelwa Sonjica, announced that the government has decided to set up a State Diamond Trader (SDT) in the Northern Cape city of Kimberley. The establishment of SDT will create job opportunities in Kimberley and help the city regain its prominence in the diamond market. SDT will buy 10% of all diamonds produced in the area and sell them to the diamond polishers and cutters across the country. Already 90% of the diamonds produced in South Africa pass through Kimberley. Kimberley is becoming one of the most attractive locations for diamonds once again. For example, the major player in the global diamond market, De Beers, also moved its South African 'sights'(occasions when diamonds are offered for sale) to Kimberley last March. And New African Mining was choosing the area as its strategic home base with two promising mines and dumps under management. The Chairman of New African Diamonds, David Hargreaves, welcomed the move and said:'New African Mining will profit substantially from the establishment of SDT in Kimberley. We believe this will further strengthen the overall market and lead to an even more attractive investment climate.' About New African Mining New African Mining (NAM), Zug/Switzerland, is in the business of mining and selling rough diamonds. NAM is structured as a holding company that owns and acquires dumps and mines through its wholly-owned subsidiaries. Up to date industrial mining techniques are being used.
