Current sale of Piazza Armerina solar farm confirms strong market position in Italy
Griesheim, 18 January 2011: ralos New Energies AG, a company actively involved in the construction of solar-powered plants, has had a splendid start to the 2011 financial year and can now announce the sale of ‘Piazza Armerina”, a further major project in Italy. Both this 3.6 MWp facility and the 5.3 MWp Troina project were bought by the subsidiary of a renowned German corporation listed on the MDAX that specialises in solar farms. ‘We are delighted,” said ralos CEO Albert Klein, ‘to have already implemented a second major project for this customer in just a very short space of time. As SMEs, we have many things in common and are thrilled by the high level of trust we have achieved – which is a good sign for the future!”
In addition to these two plants, ralos has already sold the company Ralos Sun Fields s.r.l.(RSF) with three solar farms, bringing its placement performance for freeland systems in Italy to around 12 MWp with a sales contribution of more than €40 million. Regarding the company’s sales success in Italy, Albert Klein added: ‘Our early entry on the Italian market is increasingly becoming a strategic advantage for the ralos Group. With the regulations on remuneration for energy fed into the grid still highly attractive, we are seeing massive demand among our customers that we are now excellently positioned to serve thanks to the reputation we have acquired in Italy and our proven ability to deliver.” Other major projects have already reached an advanced stage in the process of obtaining the necessary approvals in some cases.
As part of the sale of RSF, Ralos New Energies acquired 49% in Ralos Northern Italy (RNI), bringing its share in this subsidiary to 100%. In addition to solar farms, RNI is a further established business pillar in Italy in the field of large rooftop systems for small and medium-sized customers. It sold systems with a volume of around 11 MW in 2010. Thus, the ralos Group can build large rooftop and freeland systems in every region of Italy.
With this positive momentum at the start of the new financial year, ralos New Energies AG should be facing the highest income for a first quarter in the company’s history. Further details on current business developments, including in Germany in particular, will be published shortly.
