Spectral Capital Corporation: Kontexto Inc. Announces Launch of Metafull, a New Link and Data Analysis API service
SEATTLE-(BUSINESS WIRE)-(June 9, 2014) Spectral Capital Corporation, (FCCN.QB) announced today that its portfolio company, Kontexto, has launched Metafull, a new cloud based API service that allows software developers to convert any web link into meaningful metadata.
API’s — Application Programming Interface — at their most basic level, allow networked products and services to talk to each other. It has increasingly been the way in which companies, applications and mobile devices exchange data, gather information and access resources. This shift in how businesses work and how applications are both built and deployed is often referred to as the new API economy and it is being driven by disruptive changes brought on by advances in social media, networking, mobile and cloud computing.
The API economy is just getting started, but already more than 75% of Fortune 500 companies are expected to offer or consume API’s within the next year. Additionally, more than 70% of the top 50 mobile applications rely upon API’s to operate.
The Metafull API provides developers with a scalable and efficient way to acquire meaningful metadata on any link in typically less than 250ms. At the moment the industry average response time for link analysis is often greater than 2 seconds.
These low latency response rates make Metafull an ideal choice for any application that requires near instantaneous response times in order to improve decisioning and algorithmic performance. High frequency traders, programmatic advertisers and online publishers are leveraging real time metadata to drive profits up.
Metafull takes any link as an input, analyzes the link in under 250 milliseconds and creates a developer friendly metadata feed. Some of the metadata captured for any given link includes titles, a human readable text summary, author names, published date, videos, images, Facebook activity, Twitter activity and Linkedin activity.
For advanced applications, the Metafull API also includes tools to extract tags and topics, categorize entities and determine the sentiment of text or web links.
Metafull offers a generously sized free tier for developers to try, test and develop applications. There are larger paid and custom pricing tiers for those organizations and developers that are ready to go or already in the market.
“Metafull has been powering most of our custom big data solutions for the past few years. It is completely battle tested and it is the perfect time for us to commercialize the technology and make the API available to other software developers”, said Jamie Thompson, Vice President of Sales at Kontexto.
