STEAG HamaTech Reports half year results 2006
Sternenfels, August 02, 2006 – Sales in the second quarter 2006 amounted to

(1st half year 2005: € 57.1 million) are also under the results of 2005.
The decline results primarily from the substantial drop in sales in the
Optical Disc division. Sales in the APE segment rose to € 4.7 million (Q2
2005: € 2.3 million),while the Manufacturing Services division generated
sales of € 7.5 million in the second quarter of the current business year.

STEAG HamaTech has implemented extensive restructuring measures at the
location in Sternenfels. This also included a staff reduction of more than
100 employees in the past months, which is attributable to the
significantly changed general conditions in the optical disc markets as
well as the shut-down of the Prerecorded division.
The business segment Advanced Process Equipment (APE) was able to continue
its favorable trend of the previous quarters in the second quarter 2006 as
well, the or order intake remained at a high level. STEAG HamaTech was able
to further expand its leading role for equipment for cleaning of photo
masks, its global market share in the sub-segment amounts to more than
50 %. As of the end of the second quarter 2006 the order backlog in this
business division amounted to more € 18 million and thus safeguards
achieving the sales targets for 2006. The demand for equipment for the
semi-conductor sector (business division Advanced Process Equipment) is
still high. Therefore, we expect the positive business trend to continue in
the coming quarters as well.
In the Recordable segment could not be experienced in 2006. We think that
one of the key reasons for the restraint in capital expenditure
is the continuing dispute about the future formats HD DVD and Blu-ray,
respectively. The industry has not been able to agree on a standard format
so far.
The financial statements of HamaTech will be consolidated within the
Group’s financial statements of the SINGULUS TECHNOLOGIES AG.
