VISUALMED TO LICENSE ITS SECURE ACCESS TECHNOLOGY FOR POLICE INFORMATION
SHARING IN THE UNITED STATES.
SECURE BIOMETRICS USED TO ACCESS PATIENT INFORMATION WILL BE MARKETED TO
LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES (LEA)
MONTREAL–(BUSINESS WIRE) July__, 2006–VisualMED Clinical Solutions Corp.
(the “Company”) (OTC BB: VMCS – News) announces it has entered into a
preliminary OEM licensing agreement with Peloton Solutions Inc., of
Littleton Colorado, a provider of leading-edge IT solutions to law
enforcement agencies that will see our proprietary biometric security
scanning and interface technology integrated with law enforcement security
products throughout the United States.
Peloton, a provider of Police and Law records automation and connectivity
will offer to that industry a VisualMED security system that has been
validated to meet the most stringent confidentiality requirements of
medical records. Peloton will integrate and offer the VisualMED biometric
technology to its clients, who typically pay a monthly or yearly fee for
using their system. VisualMED will get a steady royalty stream from the
wide distribution of its system.
“There is a large need currently, especially in the domestic U.S. market,
for cost-effective records management technology, allowing law enforcement
agencies to share information in order to create a more efficient policing
tool”, says Scott Skibness, President of Peloton “As the needs and
capacities of law enforcement increase, so does the need for ensuring
completely secure and authorized access to the system.”
VisualMED’s proprietary biometric technology exceeds even the most
stringent standards currently in force in law enforcement because of HIPPA
as well as litigious liability that make patient records highly sensitive.
Legal records are equally sensitive and subject to onerous litigation
precedents.
“There are over 19 thousand law enforcement agencies employing millions of
people” says VisualMED chairman Gerard Dab” as well as thousands of
District Attorneys offices. We are expecting that the need for more
integration between Federal, State and local agencies will be driving this
business. For our company this is an important first step in being able to
generate future royalty revenue from licensing some of our proprietary
applications to other industries outside the medical field. Such deals will
provide some level of diversification of our future sources of revenue.”

The Peloton Product
Peloton’s flagship product, the Longarm Record Management System (RMS)
focuses on streamlining records management in the Public Safety
marketplace. The Longarm RMS can accurately capture, maintain and provide a
foundation for the analysis of all Persons, Places, Vehicles, Articles, and
Incidents in a relational interaction so as to provide intelligent
information vital to successful day-to-day operations of any local and
international law enforcement agency. Law enforcement personnel of all
levels can search for and enter information into the system, which
instantly correlates such information with any other relevant data
throughout the system. The Peloton RMS Solution is a hosted application,
deriving its most significant value from the intrinsic unification of data
among user agencies and by giving amazing response time to the officers.
Secure Access
Recent developments in the FBI’s Criminal Justice Information Service
(CJIS) Division are leading law enforcement technology vendors to adopt
more stringent security measures for systems that connect to its National
Crime Information Center (NCIC). As such, the requirement for two-factor
authentication of users is beginning to proliferate throughout the
industry. Essentially these systems have always been protected by a
username/password combination which, along with 128-bit encryption
standards has provided a moderate level of security and accountability.
However, as these static elements have always had the potential of being
lost, stolen or discovered, they have come under scrutiny as an exclusive
measure for the protection of this highly sensitive data. Currently,
two-factor authentication standards combine what is known by the user; such
as username/password, with what is possessed by the user; such as a token
or smart card, and/or what is actually derived from part of the user; such
as a biometric fingerprint or retinal scan.
VisualMED Biometric Security
As developers of a comprehensive, person-centric, medical records
management system, VisualMED Clinical Solutions Corporation has
successfully addressed many of same the data integrity issues surrounding
the capture, storage and dissemination of sensitive information within
their own products by developing a proprietary fingerprint scanning
technology and interface which may be used in a Citrix environment. Law
enforcement technology industries are driven by strict legislative mandates
concerning confidentiality not unlike the medical field.
“VisualMED’s proprietary biometric fingerprint technology and interface is
fully compliant with the strictest privacy and security norms established
by the healthcare industry, and as such is an ideal candidate for
integration within the Peloton software solution to provide the desired
high-level security access to its information database,” says Gerard Dab,
Chairman & CEO of VisualMED.
The Marketplace
Peloton Solutions specifically targets the middle and lower-tier law
enforcement technology marketplace, by providing smaller agencies and
targeted international forces with alternative solutions and procurement
strategies for their solution needs. Peloton bridges the gap by allowing
all subscribers to share information. Peloton’s cooperative nature provides
small agencies high value in information access and management at
affordable prices.
“Much like the VisualMED solution for the healthcare sector, the Peloton
solution is on the leading edge of database technology, developed in a
vacuum by law enforcement professionals for law enforcement professionals.
As such, it represents an easily implemented and managed system with very
low integration and training costs, offering even the smallest of local
police forces powerful and affordable access to an ever expanding
information network,” says Scott Skibness, President of Peloton.
“The opportunity to license our security technology and interface to a
company with such a large potential market, not only in the United States,
but globally, is an important step in diversifying VisualMED’s revenue
stream,” says VisualMED COO Barry Scharf.
