Clean Power Net (CPN): New internet presence for Clean Power Net: Fuel cell network brings its website into line with progress on the ground
(DGAP-Media / 05.12.2013 / 14:41) - Website spotlights potential applications - Complex topic presented in an understandable way - Direct channel of communication with stakeholders Berlin, 5. December 2013: The industry network Clean Power Net (CPN) has radically revamped its internet presence, giving visitors to its website from the business and political arenas even quicker access to the potential applications of fuel cells. 'The website serves both to introduce this consortium of 23 companies and institutions from the fuel cell sector and to showcase current projects and events. Our aim here is to show that fuel cell technology is now a well-established everyday reality', says Clean Power Net spokesman Henrik Colell. Whether it be through virtual power plants, smart grids or autonomous, uninterruptible power supplies, Germany's fuel cell producers foresee further rapid development of the technology and increasing market penetration over the next few years. 'The website will enable us to swiftly communicate our current successes and also to showcase them at international level', explains Colell. In this relaunch of its online presence CPN has been able to introduce the new corporate design and also to modernise the text and graphics interface. About Clean Power Net Clean Power Net (CPN) is a consortium of 23 companies and institutions from the fuel cell sector. Responsibility for project management lies with NOW GmbH, which was founded in February 2008 from a strategic alliance involving several Federal Ministries, industry and the scientific community. NOW is the central 'go-to' body for the entire hydrogen and fuel cell sector in Germany with responsibility for steering implementation of the National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technology Innovation Programme (NIP) as well as for testing and pre-selection of demonstration projects. The fact that overall coordination is being placed in the hands of a single body ensures that development is goal-directed and therefore capable of holding its own in the face of international competition. Clean Power Net is also an official 'lighthouse project' under the NIP. This nationwide programme was jointly launched by the Federal Ministries of Transport, Building & Urban Development (BMVBS), Economy & Technology (BMWi), Education & Research (BMBF) and Environment (BMU), in collaboration with industry and representatives of the scientific community, as a promotional programme designed to develop the market for these technologies. Under this 10-year programme, which runs from 2007 through until 2016, funding is available from Federal Government, the BMWi (applied research and development as part of the energy research programme) and the BMVBS (demonstration activities and market development). Thanks in part to industry involvement, total funding of up to EUR1.4 billion will be made available under the NIP during this period.
