Treofan to make significant investment in Treo-Pore^(R) capacity

Raunheim, 3 August, 2011 – Treofan Group, a global leader in high-end BOPP films, is making a significant investment in boosting capacity for its pioneering Treo-Pore^(R) Separator Membrane product line, used in batteries, EDLC Ultracapacitors and Filtration. With this investment, Treofan is aiming to meet a surge in global demand for high-end power transmission and battery applications, especially in the automotive and electrical industries.

'We designed Treo-Pore^(R) to reach new performance levels in separator weight, durability, and to cover a wide range of applications and operating temperatures – it's a dramatic improvement in every way,' said Oliver Dirmeier, Global Business Manager, Technical Films & New Business. 'This investment will allow us to produce many times over what we can produce today and is thus a huge step towards becoming the global leader in this fast-growing and demanding industry.'

Combining Dry & Wet process technologies, Treofan has created a completely new membrane structure for its products: delivering high porosity, low Gurley values, a nano-size 3D porous structure and superior puncture resistance. The new generation of separator membranes reduces charging losses and improves efficiency and safety, cutting both end-user costs and CO₂ emissions.

Treofan has already started preparations for the expansion of its Treo-Pore^(R) capacity, with completion expected by the end of 2012. The investment will focus on building an additional production line, which will have significantly higher output than the existing line.
