AGT Group (Germany) GmbH / Key word(s): Research/Technology/ PRESS RELEASE Mayor Jochen Partsch pays visit to AGT International's new Research and Development center in Darmstadt Darmstadt, [September 5, 2011] – Last week Mayor Jochen Partsch (Green Party) visited AGT International's new R&D center, as part of an information tour of high-tech companies in the region. Topics of his visit included current trends in the IT-sector and software development, location advantages for Darmstadt as well as the local software-cluster and access to IT specialists. Prof. Dr. Lutz Heuser, CTO of AGT International and CEO of AGT Germany, the management team of AGT research and development center as well as Michael Kolmer, Head of the Darmstaedter economic development committee also attended the meeting. AGT International, one of the fastest-growing public safety and security solutions organizations in the world, assembled its worldwide Research and Development activities under the leadership of Prof. Dr. Lutz Heuser at its research and development center in Darmstadt. AGT's R&D center is set to become Germany's leading hub for security-related software, with a target of 200 employed researchers by 2012. To date, about 60 IT-specialists have already been hired. AGT's fields of research in Darmstadt will be IT-security, mobile computing, sensor-networks, information management as well as human computer interaction. The solutions developed in Darmstadt will be used by AGT International's customers around the world. Mayor Jochen Partsch comments: 'We are very happy that AGT International decided to locate its R&D center in Darmstadt. Given the broad portfolio that AGT International offers, we are especially interested in its solutions in the field of mobility, environmental monitoring and e-participation. IT-based solutions for the management of cities are important topics for the future of Public Safety and Security. AGT International's conceptual propositions on e-mobility are very interesting to me personally. The fact that AGT International develops these technologies in our region strengthens the IT-location around Darmstadt sustainably.' Prof. Dr. Lutz Heuser adds: 'Darmstadt's close proximity to research institutions and the gathering of qualified IT experts in the software cluster make it a lucrative choice for us. The location provides ideal conditions for AGT International to expand its R&D activities in the field of Public Safety and Security and to develop solutions in the areas of crisis prevention, IT, cyber-security, city planning and environmental protection. This comes with the active business development incentives the city offers, helping us tremendously, for example, in regard to the search for an adequate location and office space.' Further reasons for the choice of Darmstadt as an R&D location are the regional advantages of the Frankfurt-Rhein-Main-Neckar region with its infrastructure, as well as the vibrant IT-software companies and the main office of the software cluster, of which Prof. Dr. Heuser is the speaker. He is also honorary professor at the Technical University of Darmstadt.
