Austria Mikro Systeme International: Results of 1st Quarter
2000
Order entries: Upward trend continues
The steady growth in order entries over 1999 was maintained
during Q1 2000. At EUR 37.9 million for the 1st quarter 2000
order entries were up by 88.6% on the corresponding period of
last year (Q1 1999: EUR 20.1 million). This represents the
highest level since 1995. Compared to the already high figure
for Q4 1999, order entries increased by 20.7%. Order backlog
also developed positively. As at 31.3.2000 order backlog
amounted to EUR 44.8 million, an improvement on the
corresponding period of last year of 93.9%. Hans Jörg
Kaltenbrunner, President and CEO of Austria Mikro Systeme
International stated: “Sales revenues and earnings are
progressing according to plan. Due to the successive launch of
new products, we expect to see a further improvement in sales
revenues and earnings over the course of the current year”.
Result: Improvement in sales revenues and net income
Sales revenues and earnings continued to develop satisfactorily
during the reporting period. All financial ratios of Austria
Mikro Systeme International showed a significant improvement in
comparison to the corresponding period of last year. Due to the
successful operational work of the three business units, sales
revenues rose by 26.4% on the previous year to EUR 23.0 million
(Q1 1999: EUR 18.2 million). Net result for the first quarter
increased to EUR 0.5 million, an improvement compared to the
same period of last year (Q1 1999: EUR -0.7 million). Johann
Stritzelberger, Member of the Managing Board comments: “Besides
higher sales revenues, higher cost of material and other
manufacturing services received caused by the need to outsource
some of the production as well as slightly higher depreciation
and other operating expenses were key factors that impacted on
our result”. As at 31.3.2000 Austria Mikro Systeme
Internationals equity share amounted to 63.0% (31.3.1999:
63.9%).
Project team established for 200mm production line
The project team established for the construction of the 200 mm
production line has already started work. In order to ensure
optimum realisation from a technological and economical point
of view, the project is currently re-evaluated together with
experienced partners. Wolfgang Pribyl, Member of the Managing
Board: “The start of this project has sent out an important
signal to our customers and staff about where we want to go in
the future. The Company is now able to offer an attractive
working environment to microelectronics engineers who have yet
to join us but wish to contribute to our future success.”
