Ad-hoc release
Eurobike proposes dividend of DEM 0.50 per share for fiscal
1999/2000
Düsseldorf, February 5, 2001. At its Annual General Meeting,
Eurobike AG, Düsseldorf, will propose payment of a dividend of
DEM 0.50 (previous year: 1.20) per share from the net profit of
DEM 4,351,159 (fiscal 1998/99: 12,967,210) generated in fiscal
1999/2000 (ended September 30). In addition to the dividend,
German shareholders will receive a tax credit equalling three
seventh of the dividend paid per share. The Annual General
Meeting will be held on March 26, 2001 in Düsseldorf.
The decline in profit in fiscal 1999/2000 is mainly due to the
loss situation at the Schuh wholesale subsidiary. “We have
nevertheless decided to propose payment of a dividend as a sign
to our shareholders that Eurobike AG has set the course for
future profitability through restructuring measures in the past
fiscal year and is well positioned to continue the profit
development of the past years,” said Herbert Will, Chairman of
the Management Board.
As already announced, Eurobike AGs Group sales topped the DEM
500 million mark for the first time in fiscal 1999/2000. Group
sales increased 24.6% to DEM 525.9 (422.2) million. Another
significant two-digit growth rate, which was due to strong
retail sales both in Germany – especially at Polo – and abroad –
mainly at Hein Gericke in Great Britain. In addition, the
first-time full-year consolidation of the US subsidiary
Intersport Fashions West, Inc. contributed to the good growth
rate. Wholesale revenues at Schuh, in contrast, declined by one
third and adjusted for one-off sales to a cooperation partner
by approx. 60%. This was only partly compensated for by the pro
rata consolidation of DIFI Dierk Filmer GmbH acquired on July
1, 2000.
