* 9,5 Mio. DM Umsatz im 3. Quartal erzielt
* Operativer Verlust auf 0,5 Mio. DM halbiert
* Planzahlen für die folgenden Geschäftsjahre positiv revidiert
Hamburg, 14. Februar 2000
Die Kabel New Media Gruppe meldet weiterhin außerordentlich kräftiges
Das negative Cash-EBITA (Earnings Before Interest, Tax and Amortisation of
Mio. DM im 2. Quartal.
—————————————————————————
In the first nine months of the current business year Kabel New Media turns
over nearly twice as much as in the whole of the foregoing year and boosts
profitability even further.
Hamburg, 14 February 2000
* DM 9.5 million in the 3rd quarter.
* Operating loss halved to DM 0.5 million.
* Target figures for the following fiscal years revised upwards.
The Kabel New Media Group continues to report extraordinarily high growth.
Market position was massively improved with sales amounting to DM 20.2
million in the first nine months of fiscal 1999/2000. In the third quarter
alone, net sales of DM 9.5 million amounted to almost the entire sales
volume of the preceding 12 months fiscal year.
The negative cash EBITA (Earnings Before Interest, Tax and Amortisation
of goodwill and before expenses for the employees’ stock options plan)
was halved yet again in the third quarter, leaving a residual minus of
only DM 0.5 million. Accordingly, the cumulative deficit of the first
nine months was limited to DM -3.2 million. This highly satisfactory
development is solely attributable to improved efficiency and organic
growth. Including the first-time consolidation of Kabel New Media Cologne
(formerly “cutup codes”, acquired by the Group last summer) the figures
were even better with a cumulative turnover of DM 20.9 million and a cash
EBITA of DM -2.6 million – a promising result. The strong growth was
possible due to the continued success in hiring additional employees. In
the consolidated companies of the Kabel New Media Group, there are now
248 people on board, compared to 176 in the preceding quarter.
Our internal growth was achieved in the Professional Services division with
net sales up more than 35% on the previous quarter, rising from DM 6.7
million to DM 9.1 million. This led to a significant increase of the EBITA
margin from 6% in the second quarter to 12% in the third based on our more
detailed divisional reporting. Platform business, on the other hand, was
unchanged at DM 0.4 million since the planned joint venture with ISL
Worldwide was not yet signed. The negative EBITA rose from DM 0.1 million
in the second quarter to DM 0.5 million in the third due to new projects
such as Sports Digital Services. Costs of DM 1.2 million (second quarter:
DM 1.2 million) were incurred for strategic Group steering and the
developing of the further M&A strategy (Projector PHM AB, Sweden, Vice
Versa GmbH, Hamburg, and – shortly after the quarter ended – K-web Ltd.,
UK,).
In the last few months Kabel New Media has founded the groundwork for
positioning itself amongst the European market leaders also in terms of
sales volume. Therefore, we have upped our target figures for the second
time this year. For the fourth quarter we expect internally generated net
sales on the same level as in the third. Our cash EBITA is accordingly
likely to turn out better than the estimated DM -4.7 million. Turnover is
expected to increase to DM 104 million in the next fiscal year 2000/01 with
DM 40 million of the increase coming from the first time consolidation of
recent acquisitions. A positive EBITA margin of 6% is anticipated. By the
end of fiscal 2002/2003 turnover is expected to more than double to DM 260
million. The target margin is 17%.
These figures do not include the business potential resulting from our
newly established long-term partnership with ISL Worldwide, which acquired
the ATP Tour rights with effect from 01 January 2000. The SIAG joint
venture is currently being established.
