LIPRO Holding AG: 1999 financial year better than expected
Market for ERP systems for Decentralised Production Management developing faster
than expected / Sales up 154 % / Break-even after tax one year ahead of
schedule / Tenfold rise in new orders / Establishment of a LIPRO Institute
for IT Specialists / Strategic partnership with Schmitt Consulting GmbH
Berlin, 31 March 2000 – LIPRO Holding AG, the leading software company on the
market for ERP systems for Decentralised Production Management, significantly
outstripped its forecasts for sales and revenue for the 1999 financial year
announced at the time of the IPO.
In 1999, sales revenues reached 9.40 million DM, an increase of 154 % on the
previous year’s figure of 3.70 million DM. This figure is 30% better than
forecast at the time of the IPO.
Standard software project business posted strong growth, with volumes up 74 %.
This segment is by a long way the largest single source of sales for LIPRO,
accounting for 6.21 million DM in revenue. Standard software licensing business
achieved sales of 3.06 million DM.
The result after tax (net income) increased to 0.068 million DM, compared
to -1.2 million DM in 1998, which means that LIPRO reached break-even one year
ahead of the original schedule. Earnings before tax improved to -2.38 million
DM in 1999, compared to -2.98 million DM in 1998. The positive tax effect is
attributable to the capitalisation of deferred tax resulting from the time lag
between the commercial balance sheet and the tax balance sheet.
New orders increased almost tenfold compared to the previous year, reaching
26 million DM. At 31.12.1999, orders on hand totalled 19 million DM.
On 30 March 2000, LIPRO Holding AG and its partners took the joint decision to
found a LIPRO Institute for Optimisation at a Berlin higher education
institution, to promote the training of the next generation of IT specialists
and ties between the economy and science in Berlin.
Also on 30 March 2000, the decision was taken to form a strategic partnership
with Schmitt Consulting GmbH, one of the four leading suppliers of EDI systems
(electronic data interchange). The objective is to merge both companies. In
this way, LIPRO is completing its range of services and its expertise in the
area of electronic data interchange, including internet technology and
sector-specific electronic communication. This move will decisively improve
communication between different ERP systems in the production network.
LIPRO is a technology leader in the field of solutions for Decentralised
Production Management, which are expected to account for around half of the
booming market for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) by 2003.
