PRESSEAUSSENDUNG
OMV erweitert Tankstellennetz in Ungarn
Übernahme von 28 BP Stationen
Mit Wirkung 1. Jänner 1999 wird die OMV 28 modernst
ausgerüstete BP Tankstellen in Ungarn übernehmen.

OMV further enhances marketing position in the CEE:
Acquisition of retail network in Hungary
OMV and BP today announce that they have reached agreement for
OMV to acquire BPs Hungarian retail network. It comprises 28
service stations with top quality facilities on prime real
estate sites. The acquisition will be effective as of 1
January 1999. Both parties have agreed not to disclose the
financial details of the transaction.
As with OMVs recent acquisition of BPs network in the Czech
and Slovak Republic, the stations are a perfect geographic fit
with OMV’s existing network. They are, on average, four years
old and meet OMVs environmental standards. The sites will be
re-branded as OMV filling stations within the next six months.
All are equipped with convenience stores, and the majority also
offer car wash services.
OMVs market share in Hungary will increase to 11%, and the
total number of OMV filling stations will increase to 107. The
BP retail staff will be offered employment with OMV’s
organization.
‘With this transaction we have reached our strategic goal in
Hungary of achieving a minimum 10% market share, and have
strengthened our position as one of the countrys top 3
players,’ commented Mr. Richard Schenz, Chief Executive
Officer of the OMV Group. ‘This transaction is a further
example of OMVs commitment to its strategy of expanding its
marketing presence in Central-East Europe.’
OMV is the leading marketing player in Austria, selling about
one-third of the countrys petroleum products. In addition to
its activities in Hungary, OMV is also developing its network
in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Northern
Italy and Bavaria.
