Zwischenbericht Stinnes AG: Hohe Zuwachsraten in den
ersten neun Monaten
liegende Ergebnisse erzielt.
Der Zwischenbericht vom 1. Januar bis 30. September 2000
in Kürze:
Der Außenumsatz des Stinnes-Konzerns lag um +3,0 Prozent
über dem des entsprechenden Vorjahreszeitraums. Bereinigt
um die verkauften Baustoffaktivitäten hat der Außenumsatz
um +14,0 Prozent auf 7.984,8 Mio. Euro zugenommen.
Stinnes AG Interim Report: High Rates of Increase in the
First Nine Months
In the first nine months of the year 2000 – and in the
third quarter of 2000 – Stinnes AG considerably surpassed
its performance of the previous year.
The highlights of the Interim Report of January 1 to
September 30, 2000 can be summarized as follows:
External sales of the Stinnes Group were 3.0 percent
higher than in the first three quarters of the previous
year. When adjusted for the divested building materials
activities, external sales increased by 14 percent to
Euro 7,984.8 million. This growth was primarily due to
the strong performance of the Chemicals Division and of
the air and sea freight businesses.
Relative to the previous year, the consolidated internal
operating profit increased more rapidly (+18.7 percent)
than external sales. This growth of the internal
operating profit was primarily due to the European Land
Transportation, Air and Sea Freight Unit, and Chemicals.
When adjusted for the earnings effects of the divested
building materials activities, the consolidated internal
operating profit amounted to Euro 160.8 million, which is
24.8 percent higher than in the first three quarters of
the previous year.
Relative to the previous year, consolidated earnings
before interest and taxes (EBIT) increased by 8.9 percent
to Euro 213.2 million.
Consolidated earnings before income taxes also grew
substantially (+38.5 percent) relative to the same period
in the previous year. This growth was attributable to the
positive non-operating income resulting from the book
gains on the sale of the building materials activities.
Relative to the previous year, the consolidated net
income increased by 42.0 percent to Euro 126.5 million.
At the end of the third quarter, earnings per share
amount to Euro 1.66, which is already higher than the
level achieved at the end of 1999 (Euro 1.29).
