——————————————————————————–
Nuremberg, 26 March, 2001 – WWL Internet AG has issued the following figures for
fiscal 2000 (fiscal 1999):
Turnover: TEUR 17,210 (7,762), EBITDA: TEUR -11,649 (- 4,485), EBIT: TEUR
-27,230 (- 5,342), Financial results: TEUR – 526 (+249), Deficit for the year:
TEUR -23,515 (- 2,891), Results per share: EUR -3.12 (- 0.61)
The measures introduced at the end of 2000 to attain profitability have been
further intensified. By concentrating on core business, dropping unprofitable
activities, winding up the holding company and streamlining organisational
structure, these measures already had most of their effect on costs in the year
2000. These measures will first show their positive effects operationally in
2001. In the course of these activities, earnings before interest, tax and
depreciation (EBITDA) in fiscal 2000 were EUR – 11.6 million, instead of the
provisionally expected EUR – 9 million. The main causes for this have been above
all special influences with once-only effects (such as restructuring expenses
or discount on accounts receivable from WWL Bremen) amounting to some EUR 2.3
Mio.
In order to do away with any burdens of the past in the annual statement of
accounts for 2000, the Board decided to make extraordinary depreciation
amounting to EUR 13.3 million for the company’s branches in Lilienthal and
Bremen, because of their unsatisfactory development. In addition, participation
in trendscouts.com was completely written off (TEUR 208) and participation in
Beautynet depreciated to nominal value (TEUR 627) as a precautionary measure.
Without this extraordinary depreciation, the results per share would have been
EUR -1.22 instead of EUR – 3.12.
In 2001, the already successful Southern Region (Nuremberg), South-western
Region (Stuttgart) and Western Region (Cologne) will be further strengthened and
made even more successful. The Bremen and Prague offices, which are still
making a loss, will be sold off or closed. The Munich branch will become a
marketing office. This change-over is already being implemented in the Northern
Region. Any foreseeable expenses resulting from this have been allocated to the
previous fiscal year. We shall be announcing further details at our balance-
sheet press conference in Frankfurt on 4 April, 2001.
