CEYONIQ: Sales revenues and earnings for 2001 are below expectations, for 2002
cost volume is significantly reduced. Gerd Buehrig withdraws from company,
Juergen Brintrup returns to Board of Directors.
Bielefeld, March 11, 2002 – CEYONIQ, One of the world’s leading suppliers in the
expanding market for innovative Content Lifecycle Management solutions,
achieved sales revenues in difficult market surroundings between 100 million and
103 million EUR compared to 74.2 million EUR in the same period last year. This
is an increase of revenues by 34,8 %, however, expectations about sales
revenues about 114 to 120 million EUR 2001, were not achieved.
The fourth quarter didn’t go as expected. CEYONIQ was affected by the overall
difficult economic situation and the insecurity in many economic sectors in
connection with the attacks in the USA. Some customers postponed their projects
and investments. In spite of this extreme crisis in the software industry, it
was possible to achieve a positive EBITDA -without extraordinary effects,
measures to minimize risks and restructuring costs.
The results for 2001 were influenced significantly by strategic financial and
strategic business measures and amounted to nearly -110 million EUR for the
group. In accordance with the environment, CEYONIQ executed depreciation on
goodwill and wrote off certain accounts receivable to minimze risks. In
addition, one-off restructuring expenses and required development costs for the
product suite CEYONIQ Solutions affected the result. Within the context of the
concentration on future-oriented optimization of the company structure synergies
from previous acquisitions were utilized and structures streamlined. As a
result, CEYONIQ significantly reduced its cost volume by more than 35 million
EUR per year compared to the previous planning. In the course of the year 2001
the number of employees was reduced by more than 350 employees.
The final figures will be published on March 21, 2002.
