COMPUTERLINKS AG: Solid increases
COMPUTERLINKS AG, Munich, shows a positive start to the 2003 financial year. The
value added IT distribution company achieved solid increases in all key figures
in the first three months of 2003 compared to the first three months of 2002.
Group turnover totalled 42.2 million Euro in the period under review against 37
million Euro in the same quarter last year, an increase of 13.9%. Earnings
before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) increased by
11.9%, from 2.2 to 2.5 million Euro. After depreciation of 0.4 million Euro,
earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) of 2.1 million Euro are reported for
the first quarter of 2003. This represents a rise of 218.8% compared to the
first three months of 2002 when earnings before interest and taxes were 0.7
million Euro.
Earnings before tax (EBT) were 2.1 million Euro compared to 0.6 million Euro in
the first quarter of 2002. Profit for the quarter amounted to 1.3 million Euro
(1st quarter 2002: 0.01 million Euro) with the profit per share standing at 0.22
Euro after three months.
The cash situation showed a further improvement in the first quarter of 2003.
Cash and cash equivalents rose from 11.1 million Euro on 31st December 2002 to
11.7 million Euro as at 31st March 2003. Against this there are no bank loans or
overdrafts.
The e-security business division, with growth of 18.6% to 30.7 million Euro (1st
quarter 2002: 25.9 million Euro), was again the chief performer in the first
three months of 2003. COMPUTERLINKS AG envisages opportunities for growth in the
e-security division during the current year as a result of some positive
special factors affecting business activity. Turnover in the period under review
in the e-business sector and training and consultancy was similar to that in
the same period last year. This was primarily due to the continuing difficult
overall economic conditions.
