DIS AG: Preliminary results of 2002
Düsseldorf, February 25, 2003
The personnel services specialist DIS Deutscher Industrie Service AG slightly
exceeded its forecast published in November 2002 with Group sales of EUR 232
million and earnings before tax of EUR 15 million. Sales in the DIS Group fell
by 10.4% to EUR 232.7 million. Due to a significantly better gross margin in the
fourth quarter of 2002 than expected, earnings before tax were just under 6%
above the budget figure (EUR 15 million) at EUR 15.9 million. The market share
was consolidated due to the successful emphasis on the high-quality segment. The
German temporary employment market is likely to have declined by approximately
15% in 2002. A decline in pre-tax earnings of 24.8% to EUR 15.9 million was
recorded for 2002 as a whole. Consolidated net income for the year fell by 27.4%
to 9.1 million. Earnings per share fell by 26.9% to EUR 0.69. Before goodwill
amortisation, this decline totalled 24.2% to EUR 0.83. Due to the further
improvement in receivables management, the net cash position was almost doubled
in the difficult economic conditions of 2002 from EUR 8.2 million to EUR 15.8
million. The receivables portfolio as a percentage of sales totalled 12,2% in
2002 compared with 14% in the previous year. The liquidity reserve is to be used
specifically for acquisitions. The final figures for 2002 and a sales and
earnings forecast for 2003 will be published at the balance sheet press
conference on March 25, 2003. The detailed release is available under
